Taxidermy Blues
05:06
|
|||
Canyon, Valley, Seascape, Crater
Conifer denominators.
I took my troubles by the roots,
direct them to the shore.
You got a brown-paper, chuck-wagon, old-school charm,
fruit buckets pressin' on into your arms.
I take all I need
and you take all you want.
And I learn to breathe smoke,
and I learn to breathe smoke,
and I learn to breathe
over and over again.
Well, my back seat driver could never sit still,
wanderin' feet don't ever get no fill.
Neon-clad nomad sheriff chasing you down,
row by row they all turn to brown.
Taxidermy, Headlamp, Highway
The wind keeps blowing my way.
Taxidermy, Headlamp, Highway
The wind's always blowing
my way.
Oooo, I been exposed but I'll survive.
Oh, you don't need to supervise.
I wanna be your changeling child,
Mama, let me backbend your mind.

Makalawena
03:00
|
|||
Note: This song contains two words found in a Hawaiian/English dictionary. Po'okela was translated as 'supreme' and pa'ilina as 'graveyard'. The addition of 'Yippeekaiyo' was inspired by American cowboy slang.
Makalawena is a fantastic beach on the west side of Hawaii's Big Island.
Oooh, Makalawena, Makalawena
Oooh, Makalawena Po'okela
Oooh, Makalawena, Makalawena
Oooh, Makalawena, Pa'ilina
I spent three days, three days drifting all away in the sun
this perpetual haze, this craze
is Makalawena, Makalawena
Oooh, Makalawena, yippeekaiyo.
Halfway down her body sandwiched between white thighs
You'll find Jukebox Johnny, he says "Lady,"
"there ain't no drug you can take."
Oooh, Makalawena, Makalawena
"Do you know how lucky you are?
You better lay down and bake on
Makalawena Makalawena"
Oooh, Makalawena
Well, our foursome score some papaya
and we're talking of those times before
when our love your love my love, well, it just,
it became a bore.
BUT we knew to choose and we chose to choose
We walked out the door just running for
Makalawena Makalawena,
Oooh, Makalawena pa'ilina.
I'm polarised but centred, I am basking
in the comfort that I've found within once again,
starve all day and feast by headlamp,
Lava rock beneath my feet, grounding down into
molten waves, the haze lifted, given way to
sunshining loooooove again,
simplify, simplify
Draped wrapped in favorite fabrics
basking in the certain knowledge that
I am mine on
Makalawena, Makalwena
Oooh, Makalawena po'okela
Oooh, Makalawena, Makalawena
Oooh, Makalawena, pa'ilina
Won't you bury me?

Blue Hawaii Blues
03:59
|
|||
I left my heart
in blue blue Hawaii
down by the ocean,
down by the sea.
I left my heart
in blue blue Hawaii
and I swear, Lord
it'll be waiting for me.
Down by the ocean,
down by the sea.
Where the dolphins play
and the whales breach at the beach.
Down by the ocean, down by the sea.
Blue blue Hawaii, stole stole my heart from me.
So I left my heart
in blue blue Hawaii
down by the ocean darlin',
I was down by the sea.
I left my heart
in blue blue Hawaii.
I put it on a chain and
I flung it on into the waves.
Down by the ocean,
down by the sea
I'll be juggling pebbles
on top of a coconut tree.
Down by the ocean,
down by the sea
blue blue blue blue blue blue blue
Hawaii
Oh, I left my heart
in blue blue blue Hawaii.
Down by the ocean darlin'
I was down by the sea.
I left my heart
In blue blue Hawaii
and if you're looking' darlin'
that's where I'll be.

Sing With Me
03:53
|
|||
Sing with me, dance with me.
Today's your day, don't wait tomorrow.
Tomorrow never comes.
Tomorrow never comes, so
don't wait, hey, don't wait.
Sing with me, dance with me.
Today's your day, don't wait tomorrow.
Tomorrow never comes.
Tomorrow never comes so,
don't wait, hey, don't wait.
Brothers and sisters, turn around.
Remember your friends who're no more alive.
Well, you still alive. So get up get up get up and
daaaaaance, oh,
Sing with me, dance with me.
Today's your day, don't wait tomorrow.
Tomorrow never comes.
Tomorrow never comes, so
don't wait, hey, don't wait.
Come on, come on, come on, come on, everybody,
yee-haw, sing with me.
Dance today
move around
up and down
clap your hands
I said
Dance today
move around
up and down
clap your hands
oh
Dance today
move around
up and down
clap your hands
Chachachachachacha
Say "Yeaaaaaaaaah!"
etc.

Coffee and Tea
03:16
|
|||
We try to exist in harmony oh,
I drink coffee and you drink tea.
I told you, you would never be oh,
just a friend of mine.
We try not to bother each other
so I'm smoking again and you're lying under cover.
Safe and warm, a little more time,
but I had to get up, I had to rise and shine.
In my dream
I saw you and
when you screamed
I screamed too but
oh, we couldn't hear
each other.
Well, I run fast but not for very long
I can't speak words when I put them into songs.
Cryptic codes on melodic floods like
thicker than water runs our blood.
And I'm a bit coarse, a bit rough-and-tumble
but I make good cake and better crumble.
Let me feed your needs and eat your fears
because thicker than water also are tears.
Tell me what you need.
I only aim to please.
Is your head getting
too heavy? a-oh,
You say "Take me
into your arms and see".
I'll see you in my dreams,
and when you scream, I'll scream.
And oh, I know we will hear
each other.

Thinking About You
03:06
|
|||
It was a momentary glimpse when I saw you.
Just a brush of fingertips when I touched you.
It builds me up and tears me down,
shakes me out and spins me around,
I can't get through thinking about you.
I got a reputation and no destination.
And my reputation is an inclination for moving on, moving on.
I got a reputation and no destination.
Tune in your ears, catch my invocation.
She's got teeth and claws.
When he said "Reste avec moi."
I screamed my answer back into the sky,
"No, I don't want to tell you lies!"
So I say I'm thinking about you.
I been thinking about you.
Thinking about, thinking about you.
Thinking about, thinking about you.
Thinking about, thinking about you.
And what I gotta know is
do you, do you, do you, do you
do you, do you, do you
do you, honey,
do you think of me too?
Do you think of me too?

Waking World
04:13
|
|||
The moon is my messenger.
I'll call on you
if I speak to the stars
and they speak to me too.
I've been cast away.
I have known disgrace.
But I've licked my wounds and I shed my skin and I crawled back
ready to begin again.
Do you remember all the sleep we skipped
just to see the world when it's waking?
Do you remember feeling safe, like a kid,
with your arms outstretched and your head held high
and your cares all gone on the wind
in the green grass
when all I could do was stare
and wonder how to move to pass my fingers through your hair?
Oh, there.
There, there but for grace go I, go I, go I.
Ooh, there, there but for grace
go I, go I, go I.
Ooooh, I can't go on
hiding my heart.
Noo, I can't go on
hiding my heart.
Noo, I can't go on.
How did I start?

Nature's Law
03:58
|
|||
Sunset ain't tinged with my regrets.
It is nature's law, all that rises must fall.
With a stone's throw I watched you make the dust blow,
and the palm heads bent down low to hear what I said.
I said that I got tired of only being desired.
Got one more hand off my leg, just one more question to beg.
I said a-whatcha gonna do when you get tired?
Whatcha gonna do when you get low, ooh?
Whatcha gonna do if the wheels fall off?
Whatcha gonna do when it all goes dark?
I shine my light across the sky,
I send my prayers out in the night.
I shine my light across the sky,
and I send my prayers out to the most high, most high.
So when that striptease sunrise comes along
through the pink and orange and golden dawn,
I'll have a place to watch the show,
to let the sand right by me blow.
Forget my face and lose my name
and so return from whence I came.
Forget my face and lose my name
and so return, and so return.

Owl Eyes
03:35
|
|||
With owl eyes I watched you fly,
sandpaper tongue licked you dry.
Did you come here to die?
There's a desert woman on the castle wall,
there's a dragon and a china doll.
Which one is gonna pick you up or
scream as you fall?
Did you hear me at all?
If you would wash away your concepts,
see, it is untrue that "I'm not only me I am also you".
The rat race don't get you nowhere,
but you shaved your beard, but you cut your hair.
Take your medicine, your own advice,
Mr. Power-Hungry-Lord-of-the-Flies
and close your eyes.
Then hush, little baby, oh, don't you cry.
Your mommy's gonna sing you a lullaby.
Hush, little baby, let your mommy mommy sing.

Etincelle
04:05
|
|||
C'est le premier chanson j'ai écrit en Francais - désole s'il est terrible.
Tout empêtre en Francais
Presque naturel, j'essayerai.
Au derriere, tu as souffle,
en passage, "Vous attendez."
On n'a jamais assez des temps.
Continuez, esperant.
On a vu tombee du ciel.
Allumant un etincelle.
Les histoires me fixerais.
Tu es parti e moi, je t'attendrai.
Je t'en fais confiance, je connais
tu ne m'a pas oublie.
Tu ne m'a pas oublie.
Espace d'entre, commencent.
Mots perdus, mains tremblant.
Un chose en plus I must say to you
Mais simple et doux, so you know it's true.
When I saw you my heart sang.
When I saw you my heart sang.
When I saw you my heart sang.
When I saw you my heart sang like this:
(vocal melody)
Tout empêtre en français
et je ne t'as pas oublie.
Tombee du ciel, je te verrais.
Un etincelle, illuminee.

Water Speak
05:06
|
|||
I know my death, it walks with me.
Shakes my bones and rattles my teeth.
Somewhere in the space between
terror and beauty.
We're not in love, we don't have time.
I just like the way your wings fold with mine.
Between art and life I drew a line
and I'm there, choking on a Valentine.
You made a masterpiece that would never be sold
and when it was over you could feel the cold.
We burn it up so that it never gets old.
Would you rather be unhappy or alone?
(Alone.)
I know my death, it walks with me.
This dream has never not been dreamed.
Singing, "I can help to set you free,
but only if you'll let me".
So when the moment comes I'm gonna follow my feet,
I'll be walking alone down a dead-end street,
I'll let my mask fall, I'll let my boat leak.
I wanna hear the water speak.
Let it speak!

Bliss Detective Blues
03:57
|
|||
Got a love story that I put on a shelf,
listen up, I introduce myself.
I'm a time-time-traveler, tick and tock,
I don't own a telephone or a pair of socks,
but those in the know will tell you I'm a fox,
because I never miss an opportunity when it knocks.
Hey baby, hey.
Madame le Guitare, she's been riding with me,
everywhere that I am, that's where we'll be,
strumming on your corner, singing songs about
being free.
And you kinda look like a bear, but you're a modern man.
Freaking like Buddha on the DJ stand,
you like to smell nice and be held by a woman's hand.
Honey, you know I can.
Hey baby, hey.
We weren't looking for love, no, just to get ----,
but in the course of our laying, guess a love got made.
The future got so bright I had to wear my shades
and I kept them clean, so the shine won't fade.
Then I was eating breakfast with the Queen of Hearts
and just 'cause you don't wake up don't mean we can't start
because I'm hungry enough to eat the horse and the cart,
if I came back to bed I'd have to tear you apart.
Baby baby baby baby, do you like it?
You're a sweet boy toy, say you love me so,
and you're gonna gonna miss me, oh, when I go,
so are you going my way, babe?
No? That's all right, I didn't think so.
I didn't mean to confuse, just had to lose myself.
You can see I left a few clues.
If you can follow along, if you can get footloose,
you'll find me right here
and I'll be singing the blues.
Singing the blues.
Just singing the blues.
We'll be singing the blues.

River Tide
05:20
|
|||
River tide, river tide,
fill up my mind.
River tide, river tide,
silence my mind.
The butterfly fly by,
tickling my eyes.
The butterfly fly by,
tickling my eyes.
I said, "Whaddya know, whaddya know,
about going slow?"
I asked "Whaddya know, whaddya know
about how to flow?"
All up in my mind
I eat sunshine.
Walking in my mind
I eat sunshine, I eat sunshine.
Swept away on a river tide,
between a sunset and a sunrise,
but I kept the magic inside my mouth,
licking the wound to get the poison out.
Swept away on a river tide,
over the falls, you know, I could've died,
but you heard it straight from the horse's mouth,
licking the wound I'm gonna get the poison out.
I've been talking to the trees.
Talking to the trees, butterflies, birds and bees.
And sometimes, you know, sometimes,
Oh, sometimes if I've been very very sweet,
they talk to me.
They talk to me.
They talk to me.
They talk to me.
All alone, all alone.
I use the stars to phone home.
